PASS
Announces
“Road To The
All-American 400” Program for 2012 |
CHARLOTTE, NC (March 20) – Pro All
Stars Series (PASS) officials
announced today the creation of an
exciting new program aimed at giving
short track racers across the
country a chance at racing in one of
the sport’s most legendary events.
In 2012, PASS will sanction the
revitalized All-American 400 at the
Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville,
TN.
“The Road To The
All-American 400” will give racers
in other major events around the
country a chance at racing at
Nashville in October. Races that are
currently part of the “Road To The
All-American 400” include: the Apple
Blossom 200 on May 5th at Wenatchee
Valley’s Super Oval in Washington
state, the Spears SRL Southwest Tour
event on May 12th at the Bullring at
Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Nevada,
the PASS South Firecracker 150 at
Anderson Motor Speedway in South
Carolina on July 3rd, and the Coors
Light Montana 200 at Montana Raceway
Park on July 21st. Two additional
qualifiers are currently under
negotiation and could be added at a
later date.
Winners at these
select qualifying events will be
automatic qualifiers for the
All-American 400. However, they will
have 14 days to file their entry
with PASS and pay their entry fee.
Also, that driver has to exhaust
every means necessary to qualify for
the race (time trials, heat race,
consolation race, etc). After
they've exhausted all means, if they
have still not gotten into the race,
that's when they will be eligible to
fall back on their guaranteed spot.
“We are really excited about
announcing the “Road To The
All-American 400,” said PASS
President Tom Mayberry. “This race
is so special to so many people that
we wanted to do something to help
racers from coast-to-coast be a part
of the All-American 400. I just want
to thank Larry [Spears SRL], Maria
[Montana Raceway Park], Garrett
[Wenatchee Valley’s Super Oval, and
Sylvia [Anderson Motor Speedway] for
being a part of this program and
putting short track racers
everywhere first. ”
The “Road
To The All-American 400” could not
happen without the work of great
promoters from across the country
and they are all excited about
creating this opportunity for the
racers.
“I think it’s a
miracle that we’re way out here on
the West Coast, about as far away
from Nashville as you can be, and
one of our racers is gonna get a
chance to race in the All-American
400,” said Garrett Evans, a racer
himself and owner of Wenatchee
Valley’s Super Oval. “The
All-American 400 is one of the top,
marquee races in the country and a
lot of the guys I have talked to out
here are really excited about it.
They never thought they would get a
chance to run it. I think what Tom
and everybody with PASS is doing is
great for short track racing.”
“We are honored that the SPEARS
SRL Southwest Tour Series has been
selected by PASS to be part of their
2012 “Road to the All-American 400”
program,” said Spears SRL Southwest
Tour Managing Director Larry
Collins. “Having the winner of our
May 12th race at The Bullring at Las
Vegas Motor Speedway get an
automatic starting position in the
PASS All-American 400 is a great
opportunity for one of our race
teams to be part of one of the great
traditions in our sport. Again, I
want to thank Tom for making the
Spears SRL Southwest Tour part of
this great program.”
“Here
in Glacier Country we are extremely
excited to be a part of this
legendary race,” said Montana
Raceway Park Promoter Marie
AuClaire. “We envision the best of
the best for our crown jewel, the
22nd Annual Coors Light Montana 200,
and to be a part of this national
opportunity only fuels the intensity
of this race. We look forward to
watching the best of best vie for
the All-American 400 title and to be
a part of this is just great.”
With excitement building around
the country, there is no doubt that
the glory days of the All-American
400 are back again. Super Late Model
drivers from all over North America
will race with PASS for 400 laps at
the famed Fairgrounds Speedway in
Nashville on Friday and Saturday
October 5-6.

PASS
to Sanction All American 400 at
Nashville in 2012 |
|
Race to
return to traditional 400 lap
distance; race winner to take
home upwards of $30,000 |
|
All American 400 Lap Board HERE |
CHARLOTTE, NC (January 3) – Officials today from the
Pro All Stars Series (PASS) and Fairgrounds Speedway
in Nashville, TN announced today a major addition to
the 2012 racing schedule. The PASS South Super Late
Models will stage a 400 lap event on Saturday,
October 6th at the historic .596 mile Tennessee
oval. The race will be highlighted by a return to
its traditional 400 lap distance and will pay
$22,000 to the winner. There will be an additional
$20 per lap awarded to the race leader which could
push the winner’s total to $30,000.
“We are
very honored that the PASS Super Late Models will be
a part of returning the All American 400 to its
rightful place as the premier Super Late Model event
in the country,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry.
“Fans and drivers have been begging to see the All
American return to a true 400 lap test between man
and machine and we are glad that we can make that
happen.”
“It’s hard to express my emotions on
this announcement, but being a 42 year native driver
of this historic Fairgrounds Speedway, I’m so
honored to be the promoter again and to work with
such a great promoter as Tommy Mayberry to make this
one of the biggest short track races in history,”
said Fairgrounds Speedway Promoter Tony Formosa.
“The All American 400 has not really been a true 400
since 2000. This used to be the biggest short track
event in the country and thanks to PASS and working
with the city of Nashville, it will be again. We’re
working on making sure of that as I speak right
now.”
In its heyday, the All American 400
attracted drivers from all over North America and
saw such legendary winners as Darrell Waltrip and
Rusty Wallace. With PASS, that heritage will return
in 2012.
“When you look at the great drivers
that race in PASS North from New England and Canada
like Johnny Clark, Ben Rowe, Lonnie Sommerville and
others and the great PASS South drivers like Jay
Fogleman, Preston Peltier, Brandon Ward, Andy Loden
and those guys, this is the type of event that they
want to win and be a part of,” said Mayberry. “You
take those competitors, along with all the other
great Super Late Model drivers from the Midwest,
West Coast and the Canadian Maritimes…that’s gonna
be one heck of a show come October.” |

STAFFORD SPEEDWAY
ADDS PASS SLM EVENT
TO ITS 2012 SCHEDULE |
(Stafford
Springs, CT - Dec, 8) - Stafford Motor Speedway is
continuing its theme of change with regards to its
2012 schedule. The 2012 schedule brought with it a
host of new events in the form of extra distance and
double feature nights, as well as a new Saturday
event. The changes to the 2012 schedule continue as
the Connecticut half-mile facility has announced
that they will host the Pro All-Star Series (PASS)
for the very first time on Sunday, August 26.
"We've had a lot of guys asking about racing at
Stafford through the years and we finally were able
to put a deal together with Mark Arute to bring a
PASS race to Stafford," said PASS President Tom
Mayberry. "This is huge for us to get a race in a
Southern New England market at a premier race
facility. It's hard to find a facility that is
better than Stafford and we're very excited about
this opportunity to race at Stafford Motor Speedway.
I'm sure we'll have a large car count and we may
even see some of the PASS South drivers make the
trip up to Stafford for this race."
The PASS
Super Late Models will see the return to Stafford of
drivers like 4-time PASS North champion Ben Rowe,
Mike Rowe, Travis Benjamin, Bill Penfold, and Kelly
Moore, who each have prior experience racing at
Stafford in Busch North (now K & N Pro Series East)
competition. The PASS field also has
second-generation drivers like Scott Dragon and DJ
Shaw along with drivers like 6-time PASS North
Champion Johnny Clark, Scott Alexander, Cassius
Clark, Canadian drivers Lonnie Summerville and
Alexander Gingras, and many more who will make up
the starting field. Moore is a three-time winner at
Stafford from the Busch North division and DJ Shaw's
father Dale has driven to victory lane once at
Stafford in a Busch North car, which may give them
an advantage over the rest of the PASS field.
The PASS Super Late Models will be joined by the
PASS Sportsman cars as part of the August 26 show,
and as a bonus, Stafford's Limited Late Model cars
will have the option of joining the Sportsman cars
in a combination feature. Further event details will
be released in the coming weeks.
"We're
excited to bringing the PASS cars to Stafford," said
Stafford Speedway COO/GM Mark Arute. "This is an
event that we've had discussions about adding to our
schedule for some time now, and with our radical new
schedule, the timing was perfect to add this event.
There is certainly a connection to the old Busch
North Series with some of the PASS drivers, and
we're thrilled to have the opportunity for our
Limited Late Model cars to join the PASS Sportsman
cars."

 Sunoco Driven
Challenge Offers Unique Nationwide Competition For
Drivers
Sunoco and Joe Gibbs Racing
Partner
to Recognize Drivers
From Five Regional Series
|

|
 |
 |
NAPLES, ME
(October 14, 2011) - The Pro All Stars Series (PASS)
has announced its participation in the Sunoco Driven
Challenge for both the North and South Super Late
Model divisions. Sunoco and Joe Gibbs Racing have
partnered to develop the Sunoco Driven Challenge
where drivers across the country have a chance to
compete for a unique opportunity to test with one of
NASCAR’s top teams.
“Sunoco has been with the
Pro All Stars Series since day one,” said Tom
Mayberry, President of PASS. “We are proud to be
associated with the Sunoco Driven Challenge, Sunoco
and Joe Gibbs Racing for this great opportunity for
the racing community.”
Drivers in five
qualifying grassroots racing series will compete in
a uniquely developed points system throughout the
2012 season to determine one overall winner. The
winner will receive a test in a JGR NASCAR K&N Pro
Series car at the conclusion of the season, a tour
of JGR’s Huntersville, NC headquarters and a meeting
with JGR President, J.D. Gibbs.
There will
also be an opportunity for one lucky fan and a guest
to join in the winning driver’s experience with an
all expenses paid trip to Charlotte, NC where they
will tour the JGR race shop, meet J.D. Gibbs, and
attend the test session. Prizes will also include
Joe Gibbs Driven oil products, Sunoco fuel, and the
opportunity to attend a driving school. The consumer
promotion will begin in 2012.
“Sunoco is
committed to fueling victories both on and off the
track,” said Cynthia Archer, Sunoco’s vice president
of marketing. “The Joe Gibbs Racing partnership
helps strengthen that commitment by fueling the
dreams of the next generation of drivers while also
rewarding one lucky fan.”
“We’re excited to
have the opportunity to work with Sunoco on the
Challenge,” said J.D. Gibbs, president of JGR.
“Identifying talented young drivers is obviously
something that has always been of interest to
NASCAR’s top teams and certainly when you look at
our team there are a lot of great stories behind the
development of our guys. This has been something
we’ve participated in over the past few years
through our Joe Gibbs Driven oil brand and a Sunoco
partnership allows us to enhance the program.”
To be eligible drivers must be entered in one of
the following grassroots series: PASS North, PASS
South, CRA, ASA Midwest, or SRL Southwest. Each week
points will be totaled based upon a driver’s finish
in their respective Series’ race and once each
Series concludes its season, a winner will be
determined.
All participating drivers will be
evaluated based on a standardized points system with
the top 10 drivers in each race, as well as the pole
sitter, earning points. Points will then accumulate
across the season and will be standardized based on
the total number of races in each series. The driver
with the highest average number of points at the end
of the season will be named the Sunoco Driven
Challenge champion and win the grand prize of a test
in a JGR K&N Pro Series car.

Johnny Clark #54 and Martin
Latulippe #84qc, 3rd. |
|
|
Johnny Clark
PASS North SLM
Winner at
Star Speedway
Rusty
Bryant Scores first PASS Mod Win |
EPPING NH (5/12) Johnny
Clark overcame mechanical problems
and a shot gun starting position to
win Saturday night’s Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) North 150 at Epping
New Hampshire’s Star Speedway. Clark
gave race leader Travis Benjamin the
bump and run on lap 144 and led the
final six laps to capture his first
win of the young season. Benjamin
settled for second with Quebec racer
Martin LaTulippe finished in third.
Beech Ridge winner Joey Doiron raced
under the checkers fourth and Ben
Rowe was fifth.
Engine issues
kept Clark out of the qualifying
rounds but the defending series
champ worked his way into the top
five before the half way mark.
Benjamin had taken over the top spot
from Ben Rowe at lap 62 and it
looked like he had the car to
capture his first PASS super late
model win since 2008. Clark took the
lead on a lap 103 restart and held
it until Benjamin reclaimed it under
green on lap 126. Five laps later a
power surge darkened the entire race
track, setting up a red flag period
that miraculously saw all
competitors come to a safe stop.
Once power was restored Benjamin
held the point with Clark, Donnie
Whitten and defending race winner
Derek Ramstrom all giving chase
.Ramstrom had gone from front to
back several times and Whitten was
about to make a charge at the lead
but both made off track excursions
in the closing laps, relegating
Ramstrom to 13th and Whitten to
10trh at the stripe.
The race
was slowed by ten caution periods
and one red flag. The top ten
finished all 150 laps and Clark’s
margin of victory was .414 seconds.
Heat race wins went to Lonnie
Sommerville, Ben Rowe and Joey
Doiron.
Once again a strong
PASS Mod field answered the call for
their 40 lap showdown and when the
dust cleared it was PASS Mod rookie
Rusty Bryant in victory lane in only
his second start in the open wheel
touring division. Dana Reed earned
his second podium of 2012 with a
second place run and Travis Buzzell
came home in third. Sumner Sessions
and Scott Alexander rounded out the
top five.
Mitch Miller took
the lead from Allan Wilson on lap 17
and Miller was in charge at the half
way mark with Wilson and Dale Shaw
and Bryant in tow. Bryant powered to
the point with Dale Shaw on his
bumper and Andy Shaw now up to
challenge them both. The defending
Champ wanted second but the veteran
wasn’t about to give it up without a
fight and the contact that resulted
sent Dale to the pits for the night.
Andy salvaged an eighth place
finish.
The PASS North super
late models take a weekend off
before heading back to New Hampshire
for round #2 of the bull ring tour
at North Woodstock’s immaculate
quarter mile, White Mountain
Motorsports Park on Saturday May
26th. The PASS Mods wait until
Sunday June 3rd to return to action
in a PASS triple header at Groveton
New Hampshire’s Riverside Speedway. |

Caution Free Race at
Wake County Speedway Sees Brandon
Ward Pick up His First Career PASS
South Series Win |
Charlotte, NC 5/12/12- Wake
County Speedway, the less than
quarter mile located in Raleigh,
North Carolina, played host to the
PASS South Series super late models
Friday night celebrating fifty
consecutive years of racing. After
all was said and done regulars to
track were left thinking about those
last fifty years when the last time
125 laps of racing in any division
was ran caution free. One guy that
could tell you fifty years from now,
will be #62 Brandon Ward as he
cruised to victory winning the
Capital City Clash/Bull Ring Tough
Guy Challenge 125 presented by
Bio-Specialists. The win was his
first in the series and his first
for car owner Jeff Day who has
fielded a car in the series dating
back to the inaugural season in
2006.
“Wow, what a race that
was right there,” cheered an excited
Brandon Ward as he exited the car in
victory lane. “Man, I never thought
in a million years I would get my
first PASS South Series win at a
track like Wake County. All my guys
worked their butts off to give me an
unbelievable car tonight and it
showed. I’ve been trying so hard to
get Jeff Day a win in this series
and tonight we were finally able to
do it.”
Ward was fortunate
enough to redraw the pole position
after qualifying ninth during the
series redraw of the top ten
qualifiers and never looked back.
#31 Kyle Grissom who set fast time
during the day’s qualifying session
and started to the outside of Ward
challenged the #62 machine early on
riding right on the bumper of Ward
and making contact several times
over the first thirty-two laps. Just
as Ward started to put fellow
competitors #1 Justin Allison and
#29 Landon Cling a lap down, the two
made contact resulting in Grissom
losing a half a straightaway
distance to the leader. A pair of
quick movers early on in the form of
#4 Jay Fogleman closed in to the
third position, as did Gray Gaulding
after starting tenth.
Still
clean and green at the event’s
halfway mark, Ward continued to lead
over a distant Grissom in second
followed by Fogleman and series
veteran #26 Preston Peltier. With
the race inside forty laps to go and
still no slowing the field, business
amongst drivers picked up on track.
Caruth, in his first season racing
on pavement shined on the tight bull
ring making a move that saw him go
from fifth to second all in a matter
of Wake County’s 100 foot back
stretch. This was exactly what Ward
needed to almost circle the field
entirely. Inside twenty laps to go
early front runners Fogleman and
Grissom battled to stay within the
top five and on the lead lap.
Brandon Ward once again showed
no signs of mercy or letting up in
the closing laps as he lapped the
field all the way up to the fourth
position as the checkered flag flew
through the air. Preston Peltier
made it back-to-back podium finishes
with his second place finish. Third
place man Ross Kenseth did the same
after scoring his first series win
in the series’ last outing at Orange
County Speedway just two weeks ago.
“I’ve been racing in this
series as a car owner since day one
and maybe I’ve missed fielding a car
in about twelve races during that
time, and you couldn’t have wrote a
better script than this one
tonight,” stated Jeff Day, car owner
of Ward’s #62 ride. “I can’t even
begin to describe how easy Brandon
is to work with out there. He really
is an awesome racecar driver and I’m
proud that he was the guy that got
this #62 Kevin Powell
Ford/KPMoto.com race team in victory
lane tonight.”

Super Limiteds Winner:
#5 Austin Leitner |
|
Austin Leitner Becomes
First Two Time Winner in PASS/CCS
Super Limited Series History |
Graham, NC 5/12/12- Austin
Leitner became the first two time
winner in the PASS/CCS Super Limited
Series in 2012 winning the Capital
City Clash/Bull Ring Tough Guy
Challenge 50 presented by
Bio-Specialists. Leitner charged
to the front early in the fifty lap
race making a pass from fifth to
second just five laps in on his way
to the win. Jody Measemer continued
to be the bridesmaid as he scored
his third second place finish in
four races. Twelve year old Tate
Fogleman who has already scored a
win this season rounded out the
podium.
Jeff Batten in his
#49 machine and #57 Cole Timm lead
the field to the green flag but it
was Leitner, from TBA, North
Carolina, that stole the show early
in the going after a mid-pack
starting position. Timm, the latest
series winner having won at Ace
Speedway just two weeks ago, jumped
out to the lead to get the race
started leading the first nine laps
before succumbing to Leitner’s #5
machine. Meanwhile Jody Measemer
quickly recovered from a lap three
spin that sent him to the rear after
starting fourth. The veteran driver
managed to take over the second
place position just fourteen
circuits in and then turned his
focus on Leitner.
A lap
nineteen incident in turn two
involving track regular #16 Robert
Arch that ended his night with heavy
nose damage forced officials to
display the caution flag once again.
This was all that Measemer needed to
take the lead on a lap twenty
restart. His time at the lead
position was short lived as he never
really cleared Leitner’s machine
allowing the youngster to regain the
lead position on lap twenty six.
From there it was all Leitner as he
cruised to the win leading the final
twenty four laps on his way to the
win after winning the Hickory event
in early April.
“We had a
good car from the time we unloaded
we just had to start a little deeper
in the field because of the redraw.
I fell back there a bit right at the
start but as soon as we got to go
green flag racing my Mid State
Roofing Chevy came alive and had a
great battle with Jody (Measemer),”
said Leitner. “It’s pretty cool to
be the series first ever repeat
winner. I just want say a huge
thanks to all my guys who help make
this him happen.”

Joey Doiron Breaks
Through at Beech Ridge |
Scarborough
ME (5/5) Berwick Maine’s Joey Doiron
charged to the lead on lap 87 of
Saturday’s PASS North Southern Maine
Motors.com 150 at Beech Ridge Motor
Speedway to earn a convincing
victory, the first for the series’
2010 Rookie of the Year. Lonnie
Sommerville raced home in second
followed by Derek Ramstrom, Cassius
Clark and DJ Shaw. Doiron came from
tenth on the grid and drove under
Sommerville and race leader Shaw for
a lead he would never relinquish.
Doiron’s best
previous finish, a fourth, came in
this event one year ago.
Doiron considers
Beech Ridge his home track, and his
victory comes after two seasons of
trying to carry the PASS feature
checkers. Despite his Rookie of the
Year title in 2010, Doiron has
suffered through more than his share
of mechanical issues and on track
incidents.The family– focused race
teams’ perseverance paid off
Saturday as the young man drove off
to the most convincing win that PASS
fans have witnessed in recent
memory.
The season opener
proved to be a day for the young
guns to shine. Aaron Ricker, Shaw
and Sommerville shared the lead over
the first two thirds of the race and
2011 Co-Rookie of the Year Kyle
DeSouza, Ramstrom, and Brad Babb
spent most of the day contending for
the top spot. Cassius Clark (4th)
and Gary Smith (8th) both came from
the back of the 32 car field and
they were the only two in the top
ten that have more than a few years
experience on the tour’s tracks.
2011 race winner and
defending series champion Johnny
Clark had a race he’d rather forget,
as did Ben and Mike Rowe. Clark
qualified through the consolation
rounds and started nineteenth. Clark
picked up eight spots by lap 21 but
he was sliding back 20 laps later
and it was clear that there were
problems with the 54. A trip to the
pits under caution for a fix seemed
to do the trick and he was back in
the top five by lap 102. But the
same driveline problem resurfaced,
shutting off Clark’s ride
intermittently and sending him
sideways on more than one occasion.
Only experience and determination
allowed him to salvage a 16th place
finish. Ben Rowe never seemed to
have a handle on the speedway,
despite his teams’ best efforts.
Rowe had to settle for 22nd at the
checkers. Mike Rowe had a race
similar to his sons’ and the best
the legend could muster was 18th.
The top eight all
completed 150 green flag laps in
just over an hour. The race was
slowed by six caution periods, and
Doiron’s late race dominance led to
a 6.942 margin of victory. Fast lap
was set by DJ Shaw (15.316/78.271).
Qualifying wins went to Ricker,
Hubbard and Shaw. Johnny Clark and
Donnie Whitten prevailed in the
consolation rounds.
The PASS Mod field
had its’ strongest opening day
showing ever and it was an all Shaw
show from green to checker. Andy
Shaw sat on the pole with Dale Shaw
outside, and the pair swapped the
lead on several occasions before the
defending race and series champion
prevailed. Dale chased Andy to the
checkers and Dana Reed raced home
third with Mark Lundblad Jr. and
Travis Buzzell fourth and fifth.
Scott Alexander and Andy Shaw
claimed their heat races.
The PASS Sportsman
suffered from the dreaded yellow
fever early in their 75 lap feature.
Five of the seven caution flags flew
in the first 30 laps but once the
field hit their stride the racing
was intense. Carey Martin worked his
way by Clyde Hennessey on a lap 28
restart and never gave up the lead,
despite Craig Smith’s late race
charge. Mike Clark made his trip
from Littleton New Hampshire
worthwhile with a solid third; Clyde
Hennessey and Scott Dorr settled for
fourth and fifth. Jarrod Ledger and
Nate Leavitt earned the front row
starting spots in their qualifiers.
The PASS Super Late
Models and Mods are in action
Saturday May 12th when the bull
ring, Epping New Hampshire’s Star
Speedway, hosts the two series. Race
Time is 4:30 PM. The PASS Sportsman
take a break until Sunday June 3rd
when all three PASS North touring
divisions visit Riverside Speedway
in Groveton New Hampshire. |

The Road
to the All American 400
Kicks Off
This Weekend at the Wenatchee Valley
Super Oval |
 |
Charlotte, NC 5/2/12- While it’s a
big weekend for the PASS North
Series as they kick off their
twelfth consecutive year of racing
in 2012 this Saturday night at the
Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in
Scarborough, Maine. Something just
as big for the sanctioning body will
get underway some 3,019 miles due
west as “The Road to the All
American 400” at the Fairgrounds
Speedway in Nashville, Tennessee
kicks off its journey at the
Wenatchee Valley Super Oval in
Wenatchee, Washington.
“The
Road to the All American 400” is a
program announced by PASS in March
aimed at giving short track racers
across the country a chance at
earning automatic qualifiers for the
All-American 400 on October 5-6th.
This weekend’s Apple Blossom 200
that kicks off Wenatchee Valley
Super Oval’s Big 5 super late model
series will be the first opportunity
for a driver to punch their ticket
to the 400 lap race in October.
According to Wenatchee Valley
Super Oval track owner and super
late model competitor Garrett Evans,
who plans to race himself in
Nashville, the program that the
officials of PASS came up with has
this weekend’s Apple Blossom 200
buzzing with anticipation. Several
heavy hitters in form of multi time
NASCAR Northwest Series Champion
Gary Lewis, Shane Mitchell, Owen
Riddle and 2011 winner of “The Race”
at the North Wilkesboro (NC)
Speedway Chris Eggleston are all
expected to be at the ¼ mile track
Saturday night.
“Without a
doubt we’ve had all kinds of
interest from drivers all over the
Northwest and even Western Canada
about our race because of the
possibility of earning a guaranteed
starting spot for the All American
400,” said Evans. “I know whoever
wins the Apple Blossom 200 this
weekend will definitely make the
trip to Nashville knowing they will
race in one of the most historic
short track races in the country.”
A driver who knows all about
qualifying and winning big races is
the above mentioned Eggleston. The
Colorado driver took home $75,000 at
the North Wilkesboro Speedway
winning the PASS sanctioned “The
Race” a little over a year ago.
Driving this weekend for Washington
based Short Track Enterprises (STE)
Eggleston hopes an Apple Blossom win
could lead to an All American 400
start.
“I’m really thankful
for the opportunity from STE to be
able to race in this weekend’s Apple
Blossom 200. I was just texting with
Travis Bennett the team owner a few
days ago and he was all excited when
he found out the winner this weekend
gets a starting position in the All
American 400 and was telling me all
about it. I’ve raced at Nashville
before so I know what an awesome and
fast track it is. I know a win this
weekend in Wenatchee would sure go a
long way in adding that race to our
schedule this year,” explained
Eggleston.
Other event’s for
“The Road to the All American 400”
are just around the corner with the
Spears SRL Southwest Tour event on
May 12th at the Bullring at Las
Vegas (NV) Motor Speedway, the PASS
South Firecracker 150 at Anderson
(SC) Motor Speedway on July 3rd, and
the Coors Light Montana 200 at
Montana Raceway Park in Kalispell,
Montana on July 21st.
Entries
for the event have begun to flow in
already to for the legendary 400 lap
event in October. |

Cole Timm Makes It Four
Different Winners in the First Four
PASS/CCS Super Limited Series
Winning at Ace |
Graham, NC 4/30/12- One
couldn’t ask for more parity than
drivers and fans alike are getting
in the all new PASS/CCS Super
Limited late model division. Friday
night at the Ace Speedway in
Altamahaw, North Carolina, in the
series first stand alone event away
from the PASS South super late
models, young gun Cole Timm captured
the win making it four different
race winners in the series first
four races of 2012. Kyle Beattie who
has been fast at every race this
season but has yet to grab a win
finished second followed by Tate
Fogleman in third.
Timm
became a bit of a surprising winner
after posting just the fourth
fastest time in series qualifying
that saw Hickory Motor Speedway race
winner Austin Leitner set fast time
earlier in the day. After the series
redraw of the top five qualifiers
Jody Measemer grabbed the pole
position with eventual winner Timm
taking a backseat to the fifth
starting position at the drop of the
green.
It took two complete
restarts to get the first lap in as
newcomer Tyler Dayton went for a
spin entering turn one. Once the
field finally took the green Jody
Measemer put his #98 Bull City
Racecars machine out front before a
lap three caution would slow the
field once again. Measemer once
again would take command of the
field while others behind him
scrambled for positions. Tyler
Dayton’s night would go from bad to
worse as motor issues sent him
behind the wall after stalling on
the track off of turn four bringing
out the yellow flag on lap nineteen.
Measemer continued to hold his
ground at the helm of the field over
the event’s midway point all the
while Timm had made his way to
second passing fellow competitors
Beattie and Fogleman along the way.
With just eight laps remaining a
shot by Timm’s #57 Triad Racing
Technology Toyota Camry to the rear
bumper of Measemer’s machine sent
Measemer in spin cycle ending his
reign at the lead and bringing out
the yellow for the final time of the
night. Thirteen year old Timm then
sailed to the victory scoring his
first series win, but before he
could celebrate an irritated
Measemer awaited him to discuss
things in victory lane.
“There was no intentional contact
there whatsoever,” Timm explained to
the crowd in victory lane after a
heated discussion with Measemer. “I
love racing clean. I would never
turn anybody intentionally. I was
just doing all I could to get this
win tonight and I overdrove it
getting into the corner and got into
him. I understand he’s mad after
leading every lap and not getting
the win but like I told him it was a
racing deal and it wasn’t on
purpose.” While that may have
been Timm’s perspecitive who was
able to claim the win and write his
chapter in the history books at a
PASS/CCS Super Limited late model
winner, Jody Measemer had totally
different thoughts.
“We had a
great car and lead the first
forty-two laps and then after that
last restart Timm overdrove it going
into turn one and basically dumped
me,” explained Measemer. “I don’t
know if he felt that was his only
shot or what? I am sure at that age
that he’s learning to work on car
control every week, but sometimes
what’s happening on the track is a
little over his head. It’s just
ashamed to lead all those laps and
have the best car and get taken out
like that.”
The next race for
the PASS/CSS Super Limited late
models is back in conjunction with
the PASS South Series super late
models as the tour rolls into the
Wake County Speedway in Raleigh ,
North Carolina on Friday night May
11th for the Capital City Clash 50.

With a Little Luck on His
Side Ross Kenseth Scores
His First Career PASS
South Series Win at
Orange County |
Charlotte, NC 4/23/12- Ross
Kenseth proved Saturday
night at the Orange County
Speedway in Rougemont, North
Carolina that in racing
sometimes it’s better to be
lucky than good. Kenseth
scored his first career PASS
South Series win as he
passed Preston Peltier who
experienced a broken left
front lower control arm with
just three laps remaining,
winning the Orange Blossom
Special 150.
Kenseth,
who entered the event fifth
in championship standings,
showed he had a fast car
before the green flag
dropped on the 150 lap race
as he set fast time during
series qualifying earlier in
the day. After the redraw of
the top fastest qualifiers
that took time in the
twenty-six car starting
field Kenseth would be
shuffled back to fifth and
Gray Gaulding was the lucky
driver to lead the field to
green.
Fourteen year
old Gaulding in his #2
Krispy Kreme Toyota wasted
no time settling into the
top position. Just as
swiftly as Gaulding took the
lead, track favorite Jay
Fogleman from nearby Durham,
North Carolina experienced
transmission problems
sending his #4 Bull City
Racecars machine falling to
the rear of the field by lap
ten. Two single car
incidents slowed the field
twice within the first
thirty laps before a two car
wreck involving #26 Tyler
Church and #20 Steve
Legendre sent Church’s car
into the outside wall in
turn one on lap forty-two.
While under caution for
the incident #98 Ryan
Blaney, who was in the third
position at the time, and
Jay Fogleman made contact
slightly damaging the #98
nose while Fogleman was
passing the field for the
lucky dog award. Despite the
damage Blaney’s Carswell
Motorsports team made the
decision to stay out as the
field went back to green.
Just six laps shy of the
halfway point Legendre’s
motor let go just as the car
entered turn one spitting
oil on the racing surface
sending three cars including
that of defending winner #33
Roger Lee Newton into the
outside wall.
The lap
seventy restart was Blaney’s
opportunity to spring to the
lead over Gaulding who ended
the night leading the most
laps in the 150 lap event.
As the race came down to
twenty-five to go #26
Preston Peltier put pressure
on Blaney for the top spot
before passing him with ease
and setting sail away from
the competition. Peltier
opened up a five car length
lead over Kenseth who had
now made his way to second
when sparks began to emerge
from Peltier’s Chevrolet
with just four laps to go.
That was all Kenseth needed
to score his first series
win in just his fourth
series start.
“I feel
bad for Preston (Peltier)
because I’ve lost a few
races just like that, but
that’s racing as they say,”
stated Kenseth in victory
lane. “You can say we lucked
into this one tonight, but
then again Jamie (Rouleau)
and the rest of the guys
gave me a car that was good
enough to be in the position
to win and capitalize on
Preston’s bad luck. I know
we’ve struggled a bit out of
the gate, but I think people
can see things are headed in
the right direction. It just
feels real good to get my
first win here in the PASS
South Series and be back in
victory lane.”
Next
race for the PASS South
Series “Big Boys with Their
Bad Fast Toys” is the
Capital City Clash/Bull Ring
Tough Guy Challenge 125 at
the Wake County Speedway in
Raleigh, North Carolina on
Friday night May 11th. |

Tate Fogleman Makes First Career
Full Size Car
Win a Memorable One
at Orange
County Speedway in PASS/CCS Super
Limited Series |
Graham, NC 4/25/12- In just
his third ever race behind the wheel
of a full size racecar Tate
Fogleman, son of PASS South Series
driver Jay Fogleman, scored his
first career PASS/CCS Super Limited
late model win at the Orange County
Speedway in Rougemont, North
Carolina Saturday night. Fogleman
piloted his #4 Bull City Racecar
Chevy Impala to the win after taking
the green flag from the third
position. Jody Measemer, also in a
Bull City racecar, made it
back-to-back runner up finishes with
his second place finish. Austin
Leitner was the final driver to take
home a trophy with his third place
finish.
“This is pretty cool
to win at my first big car race at
my home track with all these friends
and family here at Orange County
Speedway,” stated Fogleman in
victory lane. “I had a real good car
that drove really well through the
turns. I just want to thank my dad,
Bull City Racecars, and everyone
that helped me get here tonight.”
Kyle Beattie once again set fast
time during series qualifying and
was able to redraw the number one
starting position out of the top
five qualifiers. At the drop of the
green Beattie wasted no time getting
out front and taking control of the
top spot. The first twenty-seven
laps were all controlled by the #84
machine of Beattie before Jody
Measemer decided to make his move
for the number one position just
past the event’s halfway point.
Measemer battled side by side
with Beattie for close to ten laps
before taking the top position. This
was all that eventual winner Tate
Fogleman and fellow competitor
Austin Leitner needed to make it a
four car race for the top spot. With
Fogleman around the early leader
Beattie it was time for the twelve
year old to make his move for the
lead position. With just eight laps
to go Fogleman got around Bull City
Racecar teammate Measemer for the
lead.
Things looked to be in
the bag for Fogleman until the #49
Jeff Batten, making his series
debut, went for a spin with just two
laps to go bringing out the yellow
and setting up a green-white-checker
sprint to the finish. The young
Fogleman made his dad proud and did
what he needed to do to hold on for
his first win behind the wheel of a
full size car.
“I didn’t have
a good night at all behind the wheel
of my super late model, but seeing
this boy (Tate Fogleman) in victory
lane makes me not even care what
happen with that car right now. Plus
to have a pair of Bull City Racecars
go one two with Jody Measemer
finishing second makes for a good
night and says we are doing
something right at the end of the
day,” said the elder Jay Fogleman.
The next race for the PASS/CCS Super Limited late models is
the Ace Summer Tour 50 at the Ace
Speedway in Altamahaw, North
Carolina on Friday night April 27th.

Lee NH (4/16) J.R. Baril
powered past pole sitter Carey

led all 75 laps to capture Sunday's
PASS Sportsman season opener at Lee
(NH) USA Speedway. Martin chased
Baril to the checkers with Joe
Pastore Jr., Crag Smith and Rusty
Poland third through fifth.
Baril was out front all the way but
the win was by no means a runaway.
Martin pressured Baril for all but
the final five stanzas, trying every
move and trick in the book to
wrestle the lead away as the pair of
veterans battled for the lead.
Martin got to Baril's left rear on
several occasions and drew even with
ten to go, but the defending PASS
Sportsman champ had to back out for
a spinning car in the low groove,
ending his best shot at the win.
Baril was up to Martin's
challenge as the Lee veteran handled
all the pressure Martin could muster
as the pair worked lapped traffic.
All eyes in the the full house at
Lee USA glued on the battle up
front, as well as a nose to tail war
for third through fifth between
Pastore, Smith and Poland.
The race was slowed by four caution
periods for minor incidents. The top
ten all completed the 75 lap
distance.

Kyle Grissom Makes First
Super Late Model Win a Memorable One
at the Easter Bunny 150 |
It’s no secret that Kyle Grissom has
had success throughout the late
model stock car ranks, but just
because one’s had that success
doesn’t mean it automatically
transfers to the super late model
ranks as many have found out. Kyle
Grissom, however; wasted no time to
making his presence known to the
super late model world winning the
PASS South Easter Bunny 150 Saturday
night at the Hickory Motor Speedway
in Hickory, North Carolina.
Grissom, son of 1993 NASCAR
Nationwide Series Champion Steve
Grissom, was able to fend off
challenges from several different
drivers on multiple occasions before
pulling away for the win in the
final ten laps. The PASS South
Series newcomer set fast time in
qualifying before leading on five
different occasions for a total of
101 laps behind the wheel of his #31
Harrison’s Workwear Chevy Impala in
route to his first series win.
“None of us expected to win this
quick in the PASS South Series,
especially at a race like the Easter
Bunny, but Greg Marlowe built us an
awesome racecar that was hooked up
all night long. I had such good
forward bite through the center of
the turns that I was able to just
focus on saving my right rear tire,”
said Grissom in victory lane. “I had
a lot of fun racing against Andy
(Loden) and everyone else that we
raced against there at the end for
the win because it was just good
clean racing. That’s why there’s so
many people here tonight in the
grandstands at Hickory to watch this
race; they know they are going to
see some good racing when the PASS
Series comes to town. A huge thanks
goes out to Marlowe Chassis,
Harrison’s Workwear, and RE
Suspensions for this one. Hopefully
we can do it again in two weeks at
Orange County.”
Early on in
the 150 lap event it was several
familiar names in the form of Ryan
Blaney and Andy Loden that took
turns leading due to top ten
qualifying efforts before succumbing
to Grissom’s #31 machine. The
starting field stayed tight all
night long as thirty of the
thirty-two car starting field was
still on track at the event’s
halfway point, before a string of
cautions for minor incidents ended a
few drivers nights just past lap
seventy-five.
Just as the
event was heading into the final
stretch, series points leader
Preston Peltier, experienced a
problem that sent him fading through
the field. The mechanical issue
quickly turned into a bigger issue
for the former series champion when
his #26 Sig’s Tire Center Chevy
Impala got collected in a three car
incident ending his night early. The
final caution of the night set up a
twenty-five lap sprint to the finish
when two former Easter Bunny 150
race winners, Ben Rowe and Ryan
Lawler, tangled in turn four
battling for the sixth position.
Brad Keselowski Racing
development driver Landon Cling
finished a career best second after
having to race his way into the
feature event through one of two
last chance races for non qualified
drivers after time trials. Cling,
who is contending for the series
championship in 2012, methodically
made his way through the field
picking off cars one at a time
before edging third place finisher
Trey Mitchell and PASS North Series
regular Cassius Clark for the
position on the white flag lap.
Mitchell, making his first
series start of 2012, and Clark,
driving for southern series car
owner Dick Woodman, put on a show
for the fans to remember that packed
the house at the Hickory Motor
Speedway. The two drivers raced
nose-to-tail and side-by-side
throughout the second half of the
event before settling for their
above stated positions. Last year’s
Orange Blossom Special 125 winner at
the Orange County Speedway, Roger
Lee Newton rounded out the top five.
Next race for the PASS South
Series “Bad Boys with the Bad Fast
Toys” is the Orange Blossom Special
150 at the Orange County Speedway in
Rougemont, North Carolina on
Saturday April 21st. |

Austin Leitner Sets Fast
in Route to PASS/CCS Super Limited
Win at Hickory Motor Speedway |
Graham, NC 4/9/12- Round two
of the 2012 PASS/CCS Super Limited
Late Model Series at the Hickory
Motor Speedway in Hickory, North
Carolina was all Austin Leitner as
he piloted his #5 Mid-State Roofing
machine to victory winning the
Easter Bunny 50 after setting fast
time during qualifying. Jody
Measemer finished second after
putting pressure on Leitner early
and often for the win, while Cole
Timm finished third taking home the
last piece of hardware on the night.
Leitner made his win look easy
at times setting the fastest time
during practice, qualifying and then
grabbing the lead early after
redrawing the second place starting
position after the series mandatory
redraw of the top five qualifiers.
Justin Carroll would lead the field
to green after his good luck redraw
of the pole position.
Just
twelve laps in the fifty lap event
#02 Walker Yates went for a single
car spin slowing the race for the
first time of the night. As the race
drew closer to the halfway point
several cars began fading such as
#57 Just Carroll and #84 Kyle
Beattie after strong qualifying
runs. Another solo spin this time by
#4 Tate Fogleman slowed the field on
lap twenty-seven. The restart to go
back racing on lap twenty-eight
proved to be too much for a pair of
drivers as #16 Hayes Goodson and #22
Tyler Howell got together coming out
of treacherous turn four. Both cars
would suffer damage and be forced to
the pits for repairs prior to
rejoining the field.
The
final twenty-two laps stayed clean
and green as Leitner became the
second PASS/CCS Super Limited Late
Model Series winner in history. Cole
Timm’s third place finish was good
enough to move him to the
championship point standing over
Tate Fogleman and Walker Yates.
“This is awesome being here in
victory lane at a historic track
like Hickory,” noted Leitner in
victory lane. “We had a good car all
day here and it showed in qualifying
and again in the race. I’m looking
forward to Orange County in a couple
of weeks so we can do it again.”
Next up for the PASS/CCS Super
Limited Late Models is the Orange
Blossom Special 50 at the Orange
County Speedway in Rougemont, North
Carolina on Saturday April 21st as
the series stays in conjunction with
the PASS South Series super late
model tour in 2012. For more

Peltier Snaps Last Season’s Winless
Drought by Winning the PASS
South Season Opener at Dillon |
Charlotte, NC 3/11/12- Last
season Preston Peltier didn’t win a
single race after being crowned the
PASS South Series champion at the
end of 2010. Saturday night as the
PASS South Series kicked off their
2012 season schedule at the Dillon
Motor Speedway in Dillon, South
Carolina that didn’t seem to matter
much, as he and his #26 Johnson
Motorsports team got back to victory
lane winning the 2012 South Carolina
Clash 150 and setting the tone for a
season long points battle.
Peltier, who took the green flag
from the fourteenth position, had
his work cut out for him early on
having missed out on the series
redraw of the top ten fastest cars
in qualifying to decide exact
starting positions. It was former
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series
and new PASS South Series competitor
Craig Goess that set fast time
during qualifying, but managed to
pull #10 in the redraw, putting Jay
Fogleman and Brandon Ward on the
front row for the drop of the green.
The tough turn four at the
Dillon Motor Speedway quickly took a
bite out of the field just four laps
in with a six car incident just in
front of eventual winner Preston
Peltier, involving fast qualifier
Craig Goess, teammate Gray Gaulding,
Kevin Floars, and Clay Rogers; all
were done for the night. Ken Lilley
and Garrett Campbell were also
involved but managed to continue.
“You have no idea how close the
wreck at the beginning of the race
was for us. I could see it happening
because a lot of those guys were
racing really hard early on and you
just can’t do that especially off of
turn four. When it happened I saw a
hole open up and mashed the gas
hoping to make it through and we
did,” said Peltier.
Besides a
debris caution just a few laps
later, the field stayed clean and
green over the next seventy laps
allowing drivers to settle into race
mode. Brandon Ward in his #62
KPmoto.com Chevy Impala paced the
field early on before youngster
Steven Nasse took the top spot away
on lap thirty-two. Initially, the
quickest car on the move was the #66
of Steve Wallace after brake
problems plagued the team during
qualifying, resulting in a twentieth
place starting position. Wallace had
made his way inside the top ten just
as a lap eighty-eight caution for a
solo spin by Ken Lilley bunched the
field back together. During the
caution period Johnny Sauter’s #5
machine went up in smoke while in
the fourth position, ending what
could have been a good night in his
PASS South Series debut.
The
double file restart allowed Ward,
Fogleman, Ben Rowe, and Peltier to
challenge Nasse for the top spot and
that’s exactly what they did, as a
bad restart by Nasse sent Ward to
the front. It didn’t take long for
the yellow to wave again for what
ended up being the final time of the
night. The final restart on lap 101
allowed Peltier to take the lead and
cruise to victory by nearly one
second over second place finisher
Jay Fogleman. Steven Nasse, PASS
North regular Ben Rowe, and Kyle
Grissom rounded out the top five.
“We gave away so many races last
year and I really felt bad for my
team. We all work so hard to get
this car ready every week. So to be
able to get a win in the first race
of 2012 feels awesome,” stated
Preston in victory lane. |

Local Racer Clay Thomas
Wins Inaugural PASS/CCS Super
Limited Late Model Race at Dillon
Motor Speedway |
Graham, NC 3/12/12- It was
local racer Clay Thomas who became
the first driver to record his name
in the history books as the
inaugural winner of the PASS/CCS
Super Limited Late Models at the
Dillon Motor Speedway in Dillon,
South Carolina winning the South
Carolina Clash 50. Thomas was
declared the winner in post race
tech after Kyle Beattie’s machine
was found illegal and was
disqualified. Austin Leitner nabbed
the runner-up spot with Asher
Johnson rounding out the podium.
Prior to being found outside the
rules Beattie set fast time during
qualifying earlier in the day. After
the series redraw of the top five
qualifiers Kyle Beattie managed to
keep his number one starting
position with his lucky pick of the
number one pill. As the green flag
dropped on the inaugural race
Beattie put his #84 Kyle Beattie
Racing Chevy Impala out in front of
the ten car field.
Just as
the field was getting settled in for
the fifty lap event Tate Fogleman,
son of PASS South Series driver Jay
Fogleman, went for a solo spin in
his #4 Bull City Racecars machine on
lap eight bringing out the yellow
flag. Just four laps later after
going back green another youngster
in the form of Hayes Goodson, who’s
dad is also a successful super late
model driver, got loose exiting turn
two and went spinning down the back
straightaway displaying the yellow
once again.
While the laps
clicked away with Beattie out front
it was local racer Clay Thomas who
began moving his way to the front.
Thomas was able to get around fellow
competitor Austin Leitner just
before the caution waived for the
final time on lap forty-two setting
up an eight lap sprint to the
finish. With Beattie out front,
Thomas in second, and Leitner
rounding out the third spot the
field took the green flag for the
final time. No changes would take
place up front among the top three
positions as the first checkered
flag would fall on the inaugural
event for the series.
“This
was a great field of cars and a
great race for our inaugural event
here in the PASS/CCS Super Limited
Late Model class. Dillon is a tough
racetrack for even the most veteran
drivers and yet all these young kids
handled themselves very well out
there tonight,” stated race director
Ollie Spain of PASS/CCS. “I hate
that our first winner had to be
crowned in tech line and not victory
lane but that’s part of racing and
you have to be inside the rules that
we have set forth in this class.”
Next up for the PASS/CCS Super
Limited Late Models is the Easter
Bunny 50 at the Hickory Motor
Speedway in Hickory, North Carolina
on Saturday April 7th as the series
stays in conjunction with the PASS
South Series super late model tour
in 2012. For more information about

Many New Faces Set To Challenge
Standard Bearers For PASS South
Title in 2012 |
CHARLOTTE, NC (February 29) – To say
that fans and drivers alike are
anticipating the 2012 Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) South Super Late Model
season would be a vast
understatement. Defending PASS South
Champion Ryan Blaney moves up to the
NASCAR K&N Pro Series and will also
debut in the NASCAR Nationwide
Series. Blaney will continue to run
a limited PASS South schedule, but
that leaves the field wide open to
returning veterans and bright-eyed
newcomers for the championship.
Clemson University student Ross
Kenseth makes the move from the
Midwest Late Model wars to the
Southeast’s tough short tracks in
2012. Kenseth made his PASS South
debut last year finishing with an
impressive 7th place finish at THE
RACE at North Wilkesboro Speedway
besting a field of 70 other drivers.
“I think it will be a really
good experience to race with PASS,”
said Kenseth, son of two-time
Daytona 500 winner Matt Kenseth. “I
haven’t really raced with many of
the drivers in the PASS South
series, but hopefully we can get out
of the box with a good run at Dillon
and be a contender.”
Titusville, Florida’s Ken Lilley
hopes to continue his climb up the
racing later with a move up to PASS
South. Lilley began his career
racing in Quarter Midgets before
moving on to the FASCAR Pro Truck
division and eventually on to Late
Model racing in his native Florida.
Eddie Sharp Racing has made a
name for itself campaigning vehicles
in the ARCA Series and NASCAR
Camping World Truck Series and now
moves to the world of Super Late
Model racing and PASS. The Sharp
team has created a driver
development program that will be
guided by short track legend Butch
Miller. Miller is coming off a
season that saw him crew chief Chris
Eggleston to a win in PASS South’s
“THE RACE” at North Wilkesboro
Speedway and take away a cool
$75,000 winner’s purse. Brandon
Jones of Atlanta, GA comes to the
team after having won Pro Truck
division titles at two tracks in his
home state. Alongside Jones at Eddie
Sharp racing will be William
Gallagher, who will also be making
his PASS South debut.
In
addition, more fresh faces are
coming to PASS, albeit with
experienced teammates and
established drivers. Coulter
Motorpsorts will field a two car
effort with 2011 PASS South
Rookie-Of-The-Year Gray Gaulding and
Craig Goess, Jr. Gaulding finished
out 2011 strong with three top ten
finishes, leading laps in the season
ending Mason-Dixon Meltdown at
Concord Speedway. Goess comes to
PASS as a former Legends Car
standout who became an ARCA winner
at Pocono Raceway before competing
in the NASCAR Camping World Truck
Series last year.
Brad
Keselowski Racing also returns to
PASS South in 2012 fielding two cars
for Landon Cling and Nate Caruth.
Cling impressed running a partial
schedule last season, finishing 3rd
against a stout field in the Over
The Mountain 150 at Hickory Motor
Speedway. Caruth hopes the
experience of veteran crew chief
Gary Crooks will enable him to
successfully make the giant leap to
racing asphalt Super Late Models
with PASS from the dirt tracks of
Iowa where he cut his teeth racing
Modifieds.
Perhaps the driver
with the most invested in the 2012
racing season is Jay Fogleman. He
brings teammates along with him this
year in the form of Late Model Stock
veteran David Latour, Jr. and
perennial Legends Car winner Kyle
Beattie. Fogleman scored a win in
last year’s season opener at
Anderson Motor Speedway and led the
PASS South points much of the year,
only to lose out in the final race
at Concord to Ryan Blaney.
“Coming so close last year to
winning the championship and losing
with a flat tire was a great let
down,” said Fogleman. “But it made
us more determined to out work
everyone this Winter. We are ready
for 2012 and all the Bull City teams
are looking good for this season.”
Kyle Grissom joins the PASS
South series after several
successful seasons racing in the
Late Model Stock division throughout
the Carolinas and Virginia. Grissom
debuted with the series last October
at Hickory, starting on the pole and
leading laps in the early going. The
second generation driver is
following a similar path to that of
his father Steve, the 1993 NASCAR
Nationwide Series Champion. Steve
parlayed success in the old All Pro
Series to a successful driving
career in the top ranks of stock car
racing throughout the 1990’s.
Short track veteran Brandon Ward
returns in the familiar #62 for New
Day Motorsports with a brand new car
ready to race in 2012. Ward has been
a winner in every division he has
ever competed in with the exception
of PASS. He hopes to change that
this season as he and his team go
for the PASS South championship
after racing on a limited schedule
the last few seasons.
“New
faces to the series are always
good,” said Ward. “It adds to an
already very competitive field and
also brings new fans to PASS. The
guys have worked really hard over
the Winter and we feel good about
our chances to get kpmoto.com,
Foothill Ford and Precision Built
Spindles into victory lane and a
chance at the championship.”
And, this list of drivers set to
compete in PASS South in 2012
continues to grow by the week.
Former PASS South and PASS National
Champion Preston Peltier is back
with renewed vigor after going
winless last year. Stephen Naase
hopes to build on a very productive
2011 which saw him set a new track
record at North Wilkesboro Speedway
and hold off Peltier for a thrilling
victory in the Easter Bunny 150 at
Hickory. And, Steve Wallace returns
to his short tracks roots debuting
in PASS South driving the Leavitt
Racing Components house car.
The season kick off is just around
the corner with the 7th Annual South
Carolina Clash at Dillon Motor
Speedway on March 10th. There will
be rotating practice on Friday,
March 9th for all divisions from 3
PM until dark. On Saturday, March
10th, gates open at 9 AM with
rotating practice for the PASS South
Super Late Models, PASS Super
Limiteds, CCS Legends, CCS
Bandoleros, and Mini Cups from 11 AM
until 3 PM. Qualifying begins at 4
PM and will be followed by the
feature division races. And don’t
forget to make plans for the first
major event of the season as the
best Super Late Model drivers in the
country converge on Hickory Motor
Speedway for the 7th Annual Easter
Bunny 150 on Saturday, April 7th.

“The 2012 PASS National

that they beat the best competition
in Super Late Model racing.”
The PASS National Championship will
kick off with the 7th Annual Easter
Bunny 150 on Saturday, April 7th at

possibly taking home $30,000.

support division at approximately
10 PASS South events |
CHARLOTTE, NC (January 22) –
Officials from the Pro All Stars
Series (PASS) announced today that
it will sanction the Super Limited
division beginning in 2012. The
Super Limiteds will run as a support
division to the PASS South Super
Late Models at approximately ten
events. The PASS Super Limiteds will
employ a variety of chassis and
engine combinations to allow racers
an affordable way to compete in a
touring division.
“We’re
looking forward to having the PASS
Super Limiteds as part of our great
weekends of racing throughout the
Southeast with the PASS South Super
Late Models,” said PASS President
Tom Mayberry. “We think the PASS
Super Limiteds will be a great
stepping stone division for
youngsters looking to make the move
from Bandelero and Legends cars up
to PASS. This should be a really
affordable way for everybody
involved to go racing.”
The
PASS Super Limiteds will be open to
both perimeter and straight rail
chassis, with rules aimed at making
both types of chassis competitive.
Racers will also be able to utilize
a variety of different engine
combinations including the 602/603
crate with a 390 CFM Holley HP
Series, the 604 Fast Burn crate with
a 500 CFM 2 barrel Holley HP Series,
the Limited Built Motor with a 350
CFM 2 Barrel Holley HP and the Late
Model Built with a 350 CFM 2 Barrel
Holley HP. There will be a claim
rule for shocks and brake calipers.

down, racers will race on scuffed
Hoosier F-45 bias ply tires.
The purse is guaranteed paying
$1,000 to win and $150 to start. The
inaugural race for the PASS Super
Limiteds will be on March 10th at
